Tips on the Multiple-Choice Questions
- Read
the questions CAFEFULLY! Every word
is important in both the question and answer. Avoid scanning the stem and picking the
first answer that appears to be correct.
- If
answer choices are similar, remember that the correct solution goes back
to all of the question, not part of it.
- Be
attentive to the use of “except”, “not”, or similar words in the stem.
- Guess
only if you can eliminate one or more of the selections as being
incorrect. If you are completely
ignorant of the subject, leave the answer blank. Few questions should be left blank.
- The
test appears to increase in difficulty with a few intermittent smatterings
of easier questions. Skip questions
that are harder and come back to them later. Put a mark through the number of those
questions.
- Double
check every 10 questions that you are on the correct question.
- A
simple computer program randomizes the answers. Do not be concerned if the same answer
appears several times consecutively or not at all for some time.
- The
longest answer is not necessarily the correct answer.
- There
is little on battles on the test.
Some major battles might be on it.
- Stay
calm! All you have to do is select
the correct answer out of five possibilities. 55 minutes should be ample time to
answer 80 multiple-choice questions.
